Chuck Ellinger, Bill Fortune, and Sandy Duff are the BCC nominating committee for the January 2011 board election. The election will be for four directors who will serve three year terms to begin immediately following the January 2011 annual meeting. The 2009 by-laws are written to accommodate voting both by email and by ballot at the annual meeting.
- The membership of the Bluegrass Cycling Club will elect four directors for three year terms at the January 2011 annual meeting. The qualifications are that the person be a paid-up BCC member. Â Requirements of directors are set out in the by-laws (which may be accessed on the BCC web site).
- Nominations are now being received and will be received through December 1, 2010. You may nominate yourself or, after confirming willingness to serve, nominate another member. The names and email addresses of those nominated should be sent to a member of the nominating committee (Sandy Duff, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The committee will contact those nominated and solicit, for the BCC web site, a statement of interest, personal qualities, or previous experience that might benefit the club.
- Names and statements of those nominated will be posted as received, nominations will close on December 1, and electronic voting will then be open. The notice will not state the name of the nominator. The notice will state that the four persons receiving the most votes (electronic and paper) will each be elected to a three year term. Electronic voting will remain open until two days before the annual meeting. The results of electronic voting will be confidential and shared only with members of the nominating committee.
The committee will provide paper ballots at the annual meeting, conduct the election, add the paper votes to the electronic votes and announce the newly elected board members. The vote totals will be confidential unless there is a serious question about the fairness of the process. The committee will keep the ballot records for one year.
