2011 Voting Cycle

E-mail Print

Voting for the 2012 ride season has begun!  Elections are being held for four new BCC board members to be elected for three-year terms, and for one member to be elected to fill out the one-year term of a board member who resigned. Additionally, club members are voting on changes to the club's bylaws and Articles of Incorporation.

Please note: only club members with an active 2011 membership are eligible to vote

On-line voting will close January 10, 2012. Members who would rather not vote on line will have an opportunity to vote at the annual banquet (members can come vote even if they are not attending the banquet). Preliminary election results will be announced at the banquet on January 14, 2012 and new board members will begin their terms upon the completion of the one week comment period, or upon the resolution of any issues or concerns raised during the comment period.

Board of Directors Candidates for One-Year Term

Leach, Don

While my name is Don Leach, many of you know me as “Cowboy” - I’m the one wearing the cowboy hat with a kit!  I have been riding with the Club for 3+ years.  Primarily I try to “hang” with the A-riders, though I frequently find my self watching them roll off in the distance!.  I also had the pleasure of coordinating the annual Horsy Hundred event but the credit for the even really belongs with committee members and you, the volunteers.  I have been on several Boards nationally so I have some understanding of the dynamics of association operation. Board of Directors Candidates for Three-Year Term

Wesolosky, Patrick

I am seeking a chance to serve the Bluegrass Cycling Club as a board member for a third time. I previously served as an appointed board member (2008-2009) and an elected board member (2009-2010).  I am originally from Pittsburgh where I spent my teen years climbing the hills of Western Pennsylvania on my 10 speed. Many years and pounds later, I no longer can climb hills with the same ease, but I still have that same love for cycling. And the BCC provide me with the opportunity meet new people who share my passion riding a bicycle. [Full Bio]

Thomas, Randy

I joined the Bluegrass Cycling Club approximately five years ago and have steadily increased my involvement in club and cycling activities, including mapping and leading numerous club rides, starting the Bluegrass Bike Partner program and heading Food and Rest Stops for the 2012 Horsey Hundred.  I feel I now have the experience and time to serve effectively on the Board. Thomas, Pam

I have been a member of the BCC for 4 or 5 years. I was elected to a 2 year term on the board of directors in 2010, and have served as the Secretary of the Board for the past two years.  In addition, I have served as the chairperson of the Philanthropy Committee and as volunteer coordinator for the Horsey Hundred and Red River Rally. I have also led or co-led over 20 BCC rides this year, and help to plan and coordinate the Bike for Bikes event and our bike giveaway events. [Full Bio]

Pierce, George

I am the owner of two Lexington businesses, Pierce Financial Planning, Inc., a fee-only personal financial planning firm; and George D. Pierce, CPA, a tax preparation business.  Both are located at 182 N. Mill Street.  I moved to Lexington in 1979  from Harrison County where I was a rural bank president and helped on the family farms.  I have been an active riding member of BGCC since the summer of 2010, along with my wife, Melinda. Hokanson, Shawn

I have been a member of the Bluegrass Cycling Club since 2007, and have been a road cyclist and mountain biker since 1995.  I have experience as a club officer (Brazos Valley Cyclists, College Station, TX), and am a regular attendee as a non-voting contributor at BCC Board Meetings (17 of 27 meetings since August 2009, 8 of 10 in 2011).  I have led numerous rides for the club and initiated the 2009/10 Time trial Series and have worked with the Kentucky Bourbon Distillers association to develop a cycling route between the major member distilleries. I’d like your vote. [Full Bio]
